One of the problems with my life has been parental apathy. My parents for the most part don't care about what I do (with exceptions of course, but that will be for later).
When I had finally decided on a program for university, I decided upon the sciences. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math and Psychology all excite me. It had been long and difficult getting to that point because I am such a goddamn insecure person and through some destructive life lessons from earlier in my life decided that science was only for nerds.
And what did my parents say about my personal choice? Nothing.
They didn't want to help me figure out my courses. They didn't add any input when I was debating between schools. They didn't want to bother me with anything since they didn't know anything about science.
It seemed to only further alienate me from them.
In fact, the only nice thing anybody said about me going to school for science was from my grade 7 art teacher.
"What a waste of talent" she told me. It was nice to hear that she thought I had talent.
